Fun Times for Justin

On Wednesday Justin called me from work to see what I thought about him going on a ski trip. I was truthful and told him I was jealous, a bit angry and possible bitter, but he couldn't pass up the opportunity.

Friday morning Justin headed out with Matt and another guy to Whittier where they hopped on a water taxi for some location on Pigot Bay. From there I have no clue what they did except Matt had reserved a Forest Service cabin and a 16' Zodiak. Their plan is to troll around the bay to find runs they want to make on mountains, park the boat, hike up and then ski down (hopefully stopping before hitting they water). I look forward to finding out what they did when he returns on Monday.

While Justin's having fun, Burke and I are hanging out. We had gorgeous weather yesterday but gray is predicted for the next few days with a chance of snow. Boooo. I told Justin he "owes me big time" and he said "you just went to Idaho". My response "it's not retroactive". So I'm thinking I should get some ME time next weekend. Justin and Burke can hang out.

Justin Goes Outside

Denali in the distance.

Justin is the one enjoying the outdoors. Thankfully Anchorage is teeming with other outdoor enthusiasts. Justin and a fellow Corps of Engineers Officer, Matt, head out to enjoy the snow in the mountains above post. We've received some fresh powder in the last few days and the boys couldn't resist some after work indulgence in snow. I'm pretty sure they'll be out finding fresh tracks this Friday. You can check out Matt's blog with better pictures and descriptions here: http://www.eastcoastice.blogspot.com/

Justin is also testing his skills on the Corps racing team in an intramural league on Friday nights at the ski hill on base. He's inherited a new pair of racing skis that help him go a little faster.

About This Blog

We moved to the Last Frontier during the summer of 2009. Since we are a LONG ways from family we figured a blog was a great way to share our adventures of parenthood and our exploration of Alaska.
